It's become obvious that certain grudgewanky persons who shall remain nameless have no problems with hypocritically causing trouble for other people under the rallying call of Won't Somebody Please Think Of The Children?'

They've already fucked things up for the under-18s who were members of [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants, irritating several parents who used that comm as a teaching aid in regards to safe sexual practices in the process.

Unfortunately I suspect them to be behind some of the troll comments I've been receiving on my fics recently. I wouldn't put it past them to take the next step and actually report my stories to the fanfiction.net admin team, despite having porn of their own archived on that site.

I'm tempted to move my fics now, before they take such a step. I'm reluctant to abandon my readers on ffn though. Archive Of Our Own is tempting me though, as that site does allow porn. but it isn't exclusively for adult rated fics like AFF is.

I don't know though. What do you think?

I don't write smutfics and would avoid putting them on ffnet in the first place just in case if I did, so I'm not sure I can comment. (Even if the rules aren't really enforced, I feel safer sticking to them.) But if it was me, I'd take the smut down in advance and just look innocent if someone points the finger. It also can't hurt to make another account - the more the merrier even if nothing happens to the old one.

I started modding a comm with one of the wankers before I realised who they were and what they were doing. I don't want to abandon it, though, and it's not like I actually have to interact with them, so I figure it's okay to stay ... thoughts?

Unfortunately, I believe ffn's response to reports is to take the fics down automatically, without even looking at the content. I've heard of it happening before.

I'd stick it out. You stayed out of the whole mess (you're a better person than me) and if they choose to hold a grudge just because of what comms you belong to, that just shows their continued immaturity.

Put the fics on the new site, then, and put a link to it in your profile so your fans can find it.

I don't really want to be associated with people like that, so if I had to actually TALK to them I'd be leaving, but I guess it's okay since I don't.

Speaking of which, I took one of my MSTings off LJ during the Strikethrough bull, since it featured a sex scene with a character who may or may not have been meant to be underage (the original fic's disclaimer said something about in the TV show he's thirteen but the book doesn't mention his age, which could have been a really clumsily-phrased way of saying he's meant to be older). Since they've stopped all that wankage now, think I should put it back up?

I think I might do that.

I wouldn't risk it. You never know when Strikethrough will happen again.

I need to put it up somewhere, though, since I'm trying to move my website and the new host doesn't allow explicit material. Think I can get away with it on Dreamwidth? They don't screen for content and they say anything's allowed as long as it's within US law, and I'm pretty sure this is legal since A) it's clearly fiction and B) because of the aforementioned probable attempt at a disclaimer.

Dreamwidth would be a good place for it, yeah.

I'll see if I can get hold of an invite code, then. Been planning to put my PPC stuff on a separate journal anyway, and a Dreamwidth one might come in handy for other stuff too.

I still have a single code left, if you want that.

Okay, wanna PM it to me?

I think the best option - though it would be the most work - would be to edit the smutfics on FFN to conform to the ratings (if possible; if there's nothing else in there, then it's rather pointless, but I don't know what sort of things you write) and then make an author's note about how there's an uncensored version over at the other website. I've seen a lot of authors do that and it seems to work fairly well.

Otherwise, just take them down and note on your bio that there are more stories posted elsewhere (and at least there you can give a link), but they're too highly rated for FFN. You can't get banned for that.
